Hjerno can now offer rustproofing of existing and new tools

Do you also struggle with rust in the cooling ducts and core inserts of your tools, even after just a short period of use?

Tools that are eaten up by rust due to coolants are a well known problem in the plastics industry. Hjerno is now addressing this issue with our recently developed method of partial rustproofing for cooling ducts, cores and core inserts.

”We can even do something about heavily corroded tools,” notes managing director Aage Agergaard, whose specialists have been working on the new method for some time.

Rustproofing of new and existing tools
In general, the best steel for the manufacture of tools is not stainless steel – a fact which of course increases the risk of corrosion in the cooling ducts of the tool.

The cooling canals are among the areas for which Hjerno now offers partial rustproofing. The treatment may be used on both new and existing tools.

“Rusted tools are a challenge. But we believe we have solved the problem with this method,” says Aage Agergaard.

He adds that Hjerno now has flow and lead test equipment at its disposal, and that this is always used for a final quality check after the rustproofing treatment.
