Hiring frenzy at Hjerno

An average of one new employee has been added to our staff each month, since we moved to new and larger premises at the beginning of the year.

This means a total of six new employees, e.g. two white-collars, three toolmakers and an apprentice, which brings the total number of employees up to almost 60. A remarkably high staff inflow for a Danish tool factory, says managing director Aage Agergaard.

"Six new employees in a 6-month period is a lot in our industry. Especially as we have not had any staff outflow during the same period. "

The move has created space
It is the move to Hjerno’s new and larger premises during the winter, which has made such a staff inflow possible, stresses Aage Agergaard.

"We were locked down in the old premises. We had no space to take more in."

The increase in new employees is part of Hjerno's strategic ambition offer our customers an even broader palette of services and competencies.

"We expect that the tool factories of tomorrow have to be bigger in order to live up to client demands. Larger series and more and more complicated tools require a large and forceful factory with a broad field of specialists," says Aage Agergaard.

Room for more people
He welcomes the fact that potential employees increasingly contact Hjerno on their own initiative. But it still remains a challenge to find the right people due to Hjerno’s high degree of specialization.

"We are highly specialized here with many employees a deep specialist knowledge. It is of course fine that new colleagues join with a good, broad knowledge, but here they have to work with some very defined areas of specialisation, which places high demands on their professional competencies," explains Aage Agergaard.

Therefore, he is primarily looking for experienced toolmakers. Interested applicants are more than welcome to contact us, as there is still room for more employees.

"It is our goal to reach 60 employees this year. And I am confident that we will get there."

In addition to the toolmakers, Hjerno today employs many other skilled specialists – for example technical item designers, tool constructors and plastic processing technicians.
