Automatic quality diagnosis

Tools are not just tools anymore. Modern tools are not merely mechanics and cavities but also contain lots of electronics and cables. Thereby also increasing the risk of errors in the tool.

Therefore, at Hjerno we use a digital diagnostic tool called the ‘Mold Doctor’ to ensure the quality of the finished tools before they are shipped to the customer.

"It is an important step in our stated ambition to deliver tools that are production-ready from day one in the customer’s production," explains managing director Aage Agergaard.

Careful quality testing of heating zones
Mold Doctor is used to check the vast heating channel system - often an important part of multi cavity tools, which can contain several hundred heating zones or various kinds of sensors etc.

Just one wrongly designed zone may lead to reduced injection moulding quality or, at worst, errors in the electronics. Therefore we expose each tool's heating channel system to a thorough quality test via Mold Doctor.

"There are many such programmes in the market, many of which are cheaper and not as comprehensive. But we have chosen to invest in one of the heaviest programmes to always be completely assured of the quality of our tools," emphasises Aage Agergaard.

Mold Doctor is also used in connection with repairs of tools, as it is reliable for diagnosing the tool.
