Impressive 2018 result

Hjerno had a good 2018 according to last year’s accounts.

In fact, this has been the best year ever for the company in terms of both turnover and earnings.

Even despite a move last winter and subsequent challenges throughout the spring to have the organisation and the production function optimally in the new surroundings.

"The result underlines the fact that we have taken the right strategic decisions by moving to our new headquarters and by continuing the journey from being a medium-sized to a large tool factory," says Aage Agergaard, Managing Director in Hjerno Tool Factory.

The profits are reinvested in the company
"It is to the benefit of both our customers and our suppliers and, not least, our employees that with this year's result we prove once again that we are a healthy, competitive company in control of the finances."

Aage Agergaard adds that a substantial part of the profit is always reinvested in the company in the form of, among other things, new machinery and new technology.

Despite the good financial result, Aage Agergaard is not making any secret of the fact that 2018 was also a year that put a strain on everybody. Not least due to the move to the new headquarters in Odense, which has more than doubled the square metres in comparison to the former headquarters.

Organisational changes and new routines have paid off
"We had to put a lot of work into it to get everything to function optimally again. We moved without affecting the day-to-day operation, and although we had some running-in difficulties last spring we managed to settle in very nicely over the summer and the autumn."

In connection with the establishment of the new factory, Hjerno has, among other things, implemented a new IT planning system and new production routines and has adapted the organisation for future growth – for instance in the form of a Tool Shop Manager with responsibility for the daily production.

"The move and organisational changes in combination with many new optimisation efforts and a continued focus on service have enabled us to turn each order into a success for us as well as for our customers," concludes Aage Agergaard.
