Another new portal crane for the assembly department

No more than one year ago we invested in a new portal crane but meanwhile our assembly department has grown so much that we have invested in an extension of our portal crane so that it now covers the entire department.

After the extension, the new crane is now 35 metres long, seven metres wide and has a lifting capacity of 6.8 tons.

"The extension of the portal crane is a result of the fact that we are now further expanding the assembly department. We are experiencing great demand for service and maintenance of tools, which is why we are increasing manning in this area," explains Aage Agergaard, Managing Director at Hjerno Tool Factory.

Larger and more complicated tools
With the capacity to cover an area of approximately 250 m2 and a lifting capacity of 6.8 tons, the crane is the largest so far at Hjerno’s factory.

"The trend is that we, as a factory, handle tools that are both bigger, more complicated and with more cavities than before, so obviously we need to consider this in our crane investments," says Aage Agergaard.

Hjerno’s assembly department now employs a total of eight employees.
